TJ JACK UNO
IT START WITH -
An endless passion for music, for purpose,
for hope, for people, for life.
1 It is said that from the pains of life, the most beautiful expressions of our soul are born. LA songwriter and performing artist TJ Jack uno is poised to revolutionize popular music through his artistry. He bears the pain and gives birth to the most beautiful, uplifting, and inspirational music today, and masterfully remains respectful by bringing the elements of native music, high life, world, and Afropop with reggae and American hip-hop. His deep 3 tone vocal accent and unforgettable hooks deliver something fresh to the music scene today.
TJ Jack uno’s inspirations come from a wide range of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, and various country music artists. He gently weaves those inspirations through the fabric of his work, creating a moving sound that evokes love, peace, and a sense of harmony with a blessed soul.
A native of Nigeria, TJ Jack uno’s musical story begins at the age of 14 with the death of his mother. His world centered around her strength, beauty, and nurturing, which could never be replaced. His pain drove him to despair, crying himself to sleep at night, running into the forest crying out for her and forcing him to question why she left so soon. He never understood how to deal with the pain, growing up in an environment where men were taught to stay macho and strong. While his sister stepped up as the family’s matriarch, it could never ease the pain and suffering over his loss.
After moving to the United States, he began his songwriting journey, eventually connecting with a couple of producers, including Jerry “Keypunch” G. However, he was having difficulty in writing his music and ultimately figured out his writer’s block stemmed from the pain he was enduring over the loss of his mother. As difficult as it was, he eventually put pen to paper and wrote the song “14,” which tells the story of his mother’s death. These powerful events and emotions are the driving force behind the words and music he expresses today.
On his journey, he is forever grateful to God for his abundance, blessings, and mercy. This traumatic experience for him has propelled his motivation to not only make music, but help children who have suffered similar losses, such as those at orphanages.
While “14” will be released in due time, audiences will be soulfully connected with new work from TJ Jack uno. His latest single, “Malaika My Angel” is a solid groove complemented by lush strings, a catchy piano hook, and a creamy synth-pop harmonic vocal and hook.
The cover, created with the help of producer Jerry “Keypunch” G and background vocalist Kristen Fisher, pays homage to “Malaika,” originally performed by South African singer and civil rights activist Miriam Makeba. TJ Jack uno has always been inspired by “Mama Africa” and the romantic aspect of the song’s melody, and wanted to maintain the original format while adding a modern spin. The single is set to be released in early 2024 on the KmP platform.
